Pickling chillies

Just the other day at brekkie, the pup was complaining about the quality of the pickled green chillies.

Then I thought why didn't I make my own? I mean, it's just pickles right? Shouldn't be that hard....

I googled up the recipe online when I got home and thanks to Bee from rasalaysia.com I've got some awesome pickled chillies!!!!

Here's the recipe http://rasamalaysia.com/pickled-chilies/ and a pic of mine :)

Strawberry jello!!!

I got bored the other day and thought "Hey why is it that I never make jello?" so then I looked around the Internet for some recipes - that's when I discovered konnyaku (こんにゃく)

Apparently it's packed with fiber and has almost no calories - perfect for people with the munchies but on a diet!

Simply grab a pack from your local grocery store and follow the instructions. You can replace the water with tea infusions if you'd like or just add some cut up fruits! It's really easy.

Oh and when it says stir in gradually. Stir. In. Gradually.

My first attempt ended up in a clumpy mess because I dumped the entire pack in at one go!

Anyways here you go :)

le sigh...

Hello there readers of Things We've Cooked. Sorry for the lack of posts lately.

Just that since we moved over to our new place, I haven't been as encouraged to cook/bake as much let alone take pictures due to the lack of space in the kitchen.

It's not that we don't cook any more... just that I don't have enough counter space and the lighting is not the best... so I haven't been able to do step by step pix as much as I'd like.

Anyways, please be patient and I will be back soon!

Pinky promise :)

Tip: Storing meat

Okay! Now the pup and I cook almost every day, but with our working schedules, we can't afford to do what our mom's did - buy meat and veggies daily. So we stock up, especially on meat.

We've pretty much worked out the amount/weight of meat that we normally eat for one meal so what I've done is to re-pack all the meats into portions for each meal.

Earlier I used cling wrap to individually wrap up the pieces of meat but recently I've discovered snack sized zip lock bags!!! OMG so much fun. So much easier. So much cleaner!

This is my bacon. For me, the more fat and the chunkier it is, the more I love it.

The pup on the other hand is a lean meat lover. So he gets back bacon instead.

See? Nice and neat, no? And at least I won't have to worry about ruining the rest of the meats when I try to defrost it.

These are the ones I use. I actually bought them by mistake, I wanted a slightly larger one but hey, sometimes things just work out after all, no?

All my other meats in snack sized zip lock bags in the freezer :)

Until next time!
